10/17/09 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Saturday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 18. October 2009 18:16

Today I went out to eat with some friends for a bachelorette party.  I sometimes watch other people's food choices (not to be judgmental) but because I'm just interested in what an average everyday person would order from the menu.  I will also admit, it can be like watching a train wreck; I don't want to observe them but I can't help it because I get so shocked as to what some people will actually eat.  At first I sat in wonder and amazement because the girl had just been complaining about her weight and then chose a heavy dish of homemade mac and cheese with chicken.  I had a bite of it and being as I'm a huge cheese fan obviously it was incredible.  I was going to be quick to criticize in this circumstance but then she did something that surprised me.  She ordered a side of broccoli, ate that first to fill up more, then chose to eat half of her meal.  When she was finished with her half she called the waiter over to take it away.  She explained that she didn't want it sitting there as a temptation so she'd rather it be out of sight.  What a great strategy!  If you are going to order a fattening meal, make sure to eat your veggie first and try to only stick to a half size portion.
